The Government has announced that funding for the Train to Gain service - which aims to improve businesses' performance and profitability through better skills - will be boosted from £4 million to £30 million a year by 2010/11. The decision to provide such a dramatic increase in funding emphatically underscores the value of this unique service to businesses.
And nowhere has the success of the Train to Gain service been better than here in the North East. So much so that the government is adopting our region's approach - where Business Link deliver the Train to Gain services through specific Skills Brokers - to roll out across England.
Under the servce, your business is eligible for free access to a Skills Broker who can help you identify the training you and your staff need, then help you find - and fund - courses, training and materials. What's more, in our region we are extremely fortunate to have Tourism Skills Brokers, who not only have in depth knowledge about the training and learning opportunities across the region, but specialise in the particular needs and challenges of tourism businesses.
