A recent survey by the Learning and Skills Council suggests that 50% of adults in the North East would like to learn new skills but almost 30% are put off by the perceived cost.
Most people rate the benefits of training and learning highly, and see it as a way to improve future prospects, but many are deterred by either their idea of the costs involved or the actual cost of courses.
The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) is urging individuals to look at the Adult Learning Grant as a way of overcoming some cost issues - the grant can provide up to £30 a week to help cover the cost of learning.
For employers a lot of help is hand to support employees into new skills, and there are a myriad of flexible ways for staff to learn - both on and off the job. Contact your Tourism Skills Broker to find out what the options are for your business.
