Outdoor activity tourism has been given a £130,000 boost after plans for a new mountain bike track were revealed this week.
The Forestry Commission has unveiled plans for a new intermediate red trail to be built at Hamsterley Forest in Teesdale.
The trail is expected to take four months to build and should attract more visitors to the forest which already has beginner and expert trails, a world class skills training loop, picnic facilities and a visitor centre.
Funding for the project has come from resources pooled by The Forestry Commission, Hamsterley Trailblazers, Groundwork and Teesdale District Council.
