For the first time, spending on online advertising has outstripped that spent on TV adverts. The Internet Advertising Bureau reports that online expenditure increased by 4.6% in the first six months of 2009, despite the entire advertising sector contracting by 16.6% in the same period, and now accounts for 23.5% of all advertising expenditure.
