The main component of Desti.ne is the single Regional Tourism Product Database. This database holds information about all accommodation, places to visit, events and tourist facilities that are likely to be of interest to visitors planning a holiday in North East England.

Each record in the Regional Tourism Product Database has a Product Type (Accommodation, Attraction, Event, Eating Out etc). Each Product Type has a set of information that makes up the full record - Description, Facilities, Contacts, Opening Hours, Prices and Images.

Desti.ne allows you to directly input information on your hotel, B&B, attraction, event or tour etc., into one system that is then held in one database by Tourism Network North East.

You can then update this information at any time through the Internet.

We take the information you provide and use it to:

• Populate websites built in Desti.ne (the 4 ATP sites, visitnortheastengland, and various campaign and niche websites)
• Populate the websites of VisitBritain and EnjoyEngland by linking Desti.ne to the National Tourism Product Database, EnglandNet
• Embed our searches in other websites not built through Desti.ne like DFDS Ferries
• Provide content for brochures
• Provide information to Tourist Information Centres

We also work with partners like VisitBritain to get the region's tourism information distributed to other information sites such as Google Local and the satellite navigation provider TomTom.

This amount of distribution is very powerful, but what makes it so effective is you update your information in one place to have it displayed across many websites. For example, if a tourist attraction wished to change their opening times, using Desti.ne ensures that every connected outlet, website or Tourist Information Centre, will immediately be updated. This saves you time as well as ensuring that visitors are viewing or being given consistent information about your business.
