In 2006 the Regional Tourism Team set up an online Tourism Business Panel consisting of around 200 tourism businesses representative both geographically and by type of business.
The members of the panel are committed to answering a quarterly business survey which looks at business performance, employment and visitor profiles. Having quarterly information from a consistent set of businesses allows trends and any issues to be identified easily and quickly.
The panel can also be contacted on an ad hoc basis for their opinion on topical issues which may have an affect on tourism in the region be they national issues such as avian flu or fuel prices or more localised issues.
