Twice yearly Associate briefings are held in March and September, to which all Associate organisations are invited to attend.
The purpose of the briefings is for One NorthEast Tourism to present a general review of recent developments in the tourism sector and provide an opportunity for Associate organisations to discuss ways in which they can benefit from or directly engage in Network activities.
The briefings also provide Associates with an opportunity to present on their role, responsibilities and activity. It is anticipated that this approach will enable a more joined up approach to future activity across a range of partners.
The briefing session in September 2007 offered Associations an update on Network activity including Research Reports, current Tourism Development activity, the Information Network, the latest developments with Desti.ne and current Business Development activity. The Network focus was on the new Tourism North East website and related Tourism Business Toolkit. The Associate focus was on Sport England. Judith Rasmussen, Regional Director for Sport England North East outlined the organisation's role and remit including an update on arrangements for the forthcoming London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. The briefing session in March 2007 provided Associates with an update on Network activity including Network Action Plans and the development of the Desti.ne tourism database and on line booking platform. The Network focus was on the recently published Regional Visitor Survey. The Associate focus was on Natural England. Having gone through substantial change, Adelle Rowe of Natural England outlined the organisation's new roles and responsibilities and a number of areas of potential joint working were identified.
