The Association of North East Councils is the political voice for local government in the North East. It represents all 25 local authorities in the region, throughout Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Durham and the Tees Valley on issues of concern to them and the communities they serve. It is a cross-Party organisation, with all of its Members democratically elected and accountable politicians. The Association aims to tackle real issues which matter to people, whether it be the level of funding coming to the region, the environment, health, crime and community safety, tourism, housing or economic development. It makes the case on your behalf to Government and other important decision-makers, regionally, nationally and internationally.
The County Durham Economic Partnership (CDEP) brings together all relevant stakeholders within the County in order to work together to 'secure the economic well-being of the County'. The Partnership is recognised as the Sub Regional Partnership by the Regional Development Agency One NorthEast and has responsibility for devolved Single Programme funding. Based in the centre of Newcastle Government Office for the North East represents eleven central government departments across the entire region. It works to deliver, influence and develop government programmes and initiatives at a regional and local level, by working in partnership with relevant organisations to meet local needs. Since the publication of the Government Office review its role is changing and together with the other eight Government Offices it aims to become a more streamlined, strategic network.
The North East Assembly (NEA) is one of eight regional assemblies across England. It was established in 1999 under the Regional Development Agencies Act 1998. The role of Northumberland Strategic Partnership is to co-ordinate the efforts of all organisations with an interest in the regeneration of Northumberland, helping to ensure that the economic, social and environmental needs of the county are achieved. Its vision is to work together to release the strength of all communities so that by 2021 everyone in Northumberland has the same life opportunities, is broadly satisfied with the quality of their lives and is able to influence decisions that affect them.
Tees Valley Unlimited is a partnership of public, private and voluntary bodies which co-ordinates activities, appropriate to a city region level, designed to improve the economic performance of the entire Tees Valley. It comprises a number of boards/sub boards membership of which has been selected to bring together those organisations and people that can add real value to the overall objective of Tees Valley Unlimited.
The TyneWear Partnership acts as a focal point for the economic development and regeneration of Tyne and Wear. The roles of the Partnership are to:
