A range of documents guide the operation and work of Tourism Network North East. Information on these documents is set out below:
This is a five year document on which all other Network plans are based. The North East Tourism Strategy 2005-2010 not only directed how the Network was to be developed and by when but also sets out how to attract people to the region and the improvements needed to enhance the visitor experience. Tourism Network North East has been set up to ensure those improvements happen.
The North East Tourism Strategy sets out the tourism priorities for the region and the success of the Network will be measured by its achievement against those priorities.
This five year Network document sets out the culture, roles and responsibilities of the four Area Tourism Partnerships and One NorthEast Tourism. It identifies that One NorthEast Tourism's key relationships will be with Government, national tourism bodies, and other major regional agencies. The ATPs are highlighted as the main point of contact for tourism businesses, local authorities, community groups and tourism associations.
Unlike the two documents above, the Network Operating Plan is an annual document. It guides the work of the Network, its main events and the timetable of Network Management Group discussions for the forthcoming financial year. Work is currently underway on the development of the 2008-09 Network Operating Plan.
Area Tourism Partnerships (ATPs) are responsible for bringing businesses and other organisations together to improve the visitor experience in their area. One of the key documents that directs this activity is the Area Tourism Management Plan.
Working with businesses and public agencies, the four ATPs have each developed an Area Tourism Management Plan which sets out the priorities for tourism development in their area, what needs to be done, by whom and how it will be funded. Whilst the ATMaP is the responsibility of the ATP a range of partners including tourism businesses, local authorities, training providers and business support organisations all have a role to play in delivering the priorities identified.
The ATMaP will become an increasingly important document in identifying major capital projects that could be eligible for regional financial support.
A range of reports, action plans and frameworks direct and support the day to day activity of Tourism Network North East.
