
Tourism Tyne & Wear is located in the office of NewcastleGateshead Initiative and works in partnership with NGI and the Local Authorities to deliver tourism projects. It has an independent partnership board. The accountable body for its funding is Sunderland City Council and employees are employed by NGI which also provides support services such as HR and finance.
Tourism Tyne & Wear will harness the expertise and efforts of all those involved in tourism delivery in Tyne & Wear. Its aim is to attract UK and overseas visitors to North East England and deliver 'an experience which meets or exceeds visitors' expectations in NewcastleGateshead, Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside.
Fundamental to Tourism Tyne & Wear is a smarter way of working with the Local Authorities, NewcastleGateshead Initiative, One NorthEast and other public sector agencies, while engaging and involving the private sector. The partnership will ensure that duplication is minimised and partners work together to achieve shared aims and objectives around marketing, product development, visitor information and systems, skills and business development.
