Tyne and Wear is made up of the vibrant twin cities of NewcastleGateshead, Sunderland, the city by the sea, and the coastal boroughs of North Tyneside and South Tyneside (link to map)

Offering a range of experiences for visitors, the area has the largest visitor economy in North East England. More than 31,000 people work in the tourism industry catering for a staggering 39 million visitors every year, and generating revenue of more than £1.9billion pounds in 2008.
