Visit County Durham has developed a new brand toolkit for use by anyone promoting the county as a place to visit.
Research, statistics, opinion poll, focus groups, development and creative direction have all contributed to Durham’s new place brand. This is Durham is the brand expression.
Today, the successful recognition and differentiation of a county can be largely attributed to the experience of the brand. A brand is recognised by a series of visual, emotional and experiential triggers and associations which over time become synonymous with this is Durham.
The brand is a valuable asset, it is intellectual property that needs to be successfully communicated on many levels, from design and marketing to advertising and recruitment. And, because the brand reflects the county’s personality, culture, diversity and experience it should always be presented with flare and consistency. This toolkit will help us do just that, by helping us manage and support the visual and tonal components of the brand’s presentation to our various audiences.
The toolkit covers the basic elements, which include how to correctly manage the Durham expression identity, colour usage and typeface recommendations. Sample applications are also covered. These act as springboard visuals and are by no means prescriptive.
These guidelines have been written for any organisation that produce their own promotional material. In most instances you will need to hand these guidelines to your preferred design/print supplier so that they can refer to them.
We would like you to support the this is Durham destination brand and help us present the county in a clear, confident and compelling way to visitors. If you would like the full brand guidelines go to www.thisisdurham.org.uk or contact us by email thisisdurham@visitcountydurham.org
